Michael James Saucier, Sr., of Covington, La., passed away on October 27, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 78. He is also survived and remembered lovingly by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Michael is preceded in death by his late wife of 45 years, Jennie Rose Mangipano Saucier, and his parents, the late Henry Desire Saucier and Ona Mae Lemoine Saucier. Michael was born in New Orleans to Henry and Ona Mae Saucier on November 18, 1943 and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He worked as a project manager for the federal government for 35 years. He received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award to commemorate his distinguished leadership skills and professionalism.

He moved his family to an old farmhouse with a large acreage. He and mom proceeded to completely renovate the place by themselves and raise their children in the country. He taught us to appreciate the outdoors from gardening, animals and then all the activities like hunting, fishing, canoeing, swimming, skating, and skiing. This he did in what free time he had from work and renovating. He would also make space and time to always include our friends in whatever adventures he would take us on.
